Anita Marshall (she/her) is a geoscientist with research interests in experiential learning, inclusion and belonging in STEM disciplines, d/Disability, and cultural aspects of the geosciences. Her work is informed by her own experiences as a disabled geoscientist and a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Her geology training is in volcanology, hazards, hydrology and geodesy. Anita supervises graduate student research in geoscience education topics and teaches a wide range of undergraduate geology. Anita received the National Association of Geoscience Teachers Excellence in JEDI (Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion) award in 2022 for courses and programs that center accessibility, geo-ethics, sustainability, and cultural inclusion. One such project is GeoSPACE – a hybrid summer field course and mentoring program for students with disabilities and other marginalized identities in Arizona. She is also the Director of the non-profit International Association for Geoscience Diversity (theIAGD.org)
